More Tips for Making Your Gift Shopping a Success
Shop big-ticket, expensive items, like electronics, during Black Friday sales.
You'll find Galaxy Tabs, iPads, AirPods, and more at their lowest prices during Black Friday sales. These deals are hot and go fast, so use your time during Black Friday to cross them off the list.
Some stores like Target and Best Buy extend their price match policies during the holidays. If you do see a better deal at the same store, you can likely get the lower price through the end of the year.
Shop lower-priced items, like apparel and beauty, during Cyber Monday sales.
You'll typically find the best pricing on apparel, shoes, and small kitchen appliances during Cyber Monday sales. Stores often offer sitewide promo codes so that you don't have to add specific items to your cart; you can get a discount on the whole thing. That makes Cyber Monday prime time for lower-pressure gift shopping, since you already knocked out the pricey must-haves during Black Friday.
Save at the very last minute on toys, games, and holiday beauty sets.
Check last-minute holiday sales for the stuff you're more flexible about, like stocking stuffers and items for your gift closet. Retailers usually mark down toys, puzzles, holiday beauty gift sets, and games they haven't sold yet (sometimes with BOGO deals) because they know there's less of a market for those things after the holidays. You can't be too picky the week of Dec. 25, but you'll be able to save up to save 50% or more (Walmart, for example, starts holiday markdowns of 50% - 70% off on Dec. 23).
