What is Disney Movie Insiders?

Basically, it’s your chance to earn points that turn into freebies. Disney Movie Insiders is the company’s free movie loyalty program. You’ll rack up these points by streaming Disney+ movies, buying Blu-rays and DVDs, and watching films at the theater.

Earn 100 – 150 points for every Disney movie ticket you submit — up to 1,500 points per month.

Whenever you see a Disney movie in theaters, you can earn 100 – 150 points. To reap those points, you must take a picture of your ticket stub and submit it within 14 days to Disney Movie Insiders via the website or mobile app.

You’ll get 100 points for movies you watch in standard format, and 150 points for movies in the following premium formats:

  • IMAX
  • Dolby Cinema at AMC
  • Regal RPX
  • Regal 4DX
  • Regal ScreenX

These “premium format” indicators must be clearly labeled on the movie tickets you submit or you won’t receive the full 150 points.

Get 100 points for buying a movie on digital; it’s the best value for earning points.

Someone browsing the Movies Anywhere website

Disney Movie Insiders has partnered with Movies Anywhere, Atom Rewards, Fandango VIP, and Regal Crown Club. Link these accounts to your Disney Movie Insiders account to get 25 points each.

If you’re buying Disney movies from places like Prime Video or Google Play, you’ll want to create a free Movies Anywhere account. Next, link that to your Disney Movie Insiders account. You’ll automatically earn 100 points every time you buy select movies on digital.

These movies will typically run you around $4.99 for older films and up to $25 for newer releases, so you’ll earn up to 20 points per $1 spent. Best value.

Earn up to 200 points for Disney Blu-rays and 75+ points for DVDs.

Listen, if you still watch movies the “old-fashioned way,” you’ll find Disney Movie Insiders codes inside every Disney DVD or Blu-ray case. This results in up to 200 points (75 points for a DVD, and up to 200 for Blu-ray).

If you sign up for the Disney Movie Club, you can earn 500 points when you link your accounts on top of earning points from the DVDs you purchase! You need to buy a minimum of nine movies ($1 for the first four; $19.95 for the next five), but each movie will net you 100 points as well, adding up to 1,400 points. That’s 13.5 points for every dollar spent.

Aim to earn at least 10 points per $1 spent — and keep an eye out for free points offers.

You want to earn the most points possible per dollar spent, so buying DVDs and cheap Disney movies on digital are your best bet. Full-price movies on digital are the worst value.

But what’s even better? Earning points without spending anything. Every week, the Disney Movie Insiders team will post offers via Twitter or Instagram that include extra points when you buy specific merch from ShopDisney.com. Recently, it was a Valentine’s Day Grogu Pop. You’d earn 400 extra points for the purchase. So follow their social media and keep a look out for those codes!

Keep tabs on the DMI page for special points offers. During the release of Ant Man and the Wasp Quanumania, you could earn double points at the theater.

Keep track of your points balance via the Disney Movie Insiders app and website.

Sign in to your Disney Movie Insiders account to see your current points balance. These will expire 365 days after you earned them, so make sure to use them before time runs out.

The Movie Insiders store has lots of freebies, as well as items that’ll cost between five and 12,500 points.

Disney Movie Insiders will give you 25 points just for signing up — which means you can start spending your points right away.

There are literally hundreds of different items available in the “Redeem” section of the DMI website. New items hit the store every Wednesday at 9 p.m. PT. See the chart above for an idea of how you can spend your points.

Also, watch for loads of printables, phone wallpapers, and different items that cost 0 points. You don’t even need points for these freebies! As you can see, I tried taking a stab at what the value of one of the Reward “Experiences” would be. It’s difficult to know exactly what the value is when we don’t know how long the tour lasts. Your mileage may vary there.
