Hosting during the holidays is always a budget challenge, especially with grocery prices where they are right now. To keep things affordable, I’ve been sticking to simple, classic recipes with ingredients that stretch.
Two staples helping me do that this year are Hellmann’s® Real or Light Mayonnaise and Maille® mustards. Hellmann’s® and Best Foods® are my go-to for creamy, budget-friendly deviled eggs, and a charcuterie board becomes a lot more flavorful — and easier to find on sale — with a couple varieties of Maille® mustard. Even better: both are currently on sale at Amazon.
Here are the two holiday appetizers I’m making and the deals I’m shopping to stay under budget.

Holiday Charcuterie Board With Maille® Mustard Variety Pack
The best way to keep the flavor high and the budget low in a charcuterie board is to add ingredients that pack a lot of flavor. This Maille® Mustard Variety Pack has four different mustard flavors and works out to just $3.69 per jar.
Ingredients:
-
Maille® Mustard Variety Pack
-
4–6 cheeses (such as Cheddar, bleu, Gouda, bleu, Swiss, Parmesan, Manchego, or goat cheese)
-
3–4 cured meats (such as salami, summer sausage, prosciutto, pepperoni)
-
2 pickled items (I like Maille® Cornichons, olives, artichoke hearts, or giardiniera)
-
3–4 types of crackers and breadsticks
-
1–2 fresh fruits (such as grapes, figs, or berries)
-
1 dried fruit (such as apricots, dates, figs, or prunes)
-
Mixed nuts and/or pistachios
-
Something sweet (such as honeycomb, honey, hot honey, or fruit preserves)
-
Holiday garnishes (such as fresh cranberries, rosemary, or sage)
Directions:
-
Arrange the charcuterie on a large serving board. (You'll likely have more ingredients than can fit on your board, so feel free to pre-slice those and refrigerate to refresh the board as needed.)
-
Place the Maille® mustard jars evenly spaced across the board. (You can also transfer some of each mustard to small dishes and place those on the board with serving spoons instead.)
-
Alternate between meats, cheeses, fruits, and other items, filling in any gaps with holiday garnishes.
