Dairy Queen Cherry Dipped Cones, we hardly knew ya. In May 2022, we rejoiced upon hearing the news that the Dairy Queen Cherry Dip was returning. But just a year later in May 2023, the Cherry Dip is being discontinued indefinitely. This special cone has been coming in and out of rotation since its introduction. So, while you might not be able to get it now, it might return when another dip is discontinued.
Hey, at least we still have the Dairy Queen Summer Blizzards to keep us cool in the months ahead, not to mention the other Dairy Queen dips.
We have all of the insights you need to know about the dip, including what’s replacing it (spoiler: the streets say it’s Butterscotch) and how you can possibly get your cherry dip before it’s too late.

The Dairy Queen Cherry Dip is being replaced by the Butterscotch Dip.

A Dairy Queen Dipped Cone is a standard vanilla soft serve dipped into a melted coating that immediately hardens once taken out of the dip. They have experimented with different flavors of dips before, but their Cherry Dip is one of the more popular flavors.
In March 2023, Dairy Queen announced that they were bringing in a new Churro Dip alongside their Cherry and Chocolate Dips. And for a few months, we were able to get all three flavors whenever we wanted. However, in mid-May 2023, TikTok user @dqshelbytwpmi announced that Dairy Queen is no longer providing stores with the signature Cherry Dip.
It’s rumored that the returning flavor this time will be Butterscotch Dip, so fans of that variety should be able to pick it up soon.
Here’s what Dairy Queen has to say about the Cherry Dip discontinuation:
At this time, the Cherry Dipped Cone at Dairy Queen is being discontinued. That said, DQ is always rotating our dipped cone flavors and Cherry Dipped Cones may return in the future. Fans should check with their local DQ restaurant to learn which flavors are available.
You can still get the Cherry Dip if your Dairy Queen location has inventory left.

While Dairy Queen locations will stop receiving shipments of the Cherry Dip for the foreseeable future, most locations will be selling the dip until they run out of inventory. They have taken the Cherry Dip off their online menu, though, so you won’t be able to purchase it through the Dairy Queen app or website.
Contact your local Dairy Queen to see if they still have any Cherry Dip left. Here’s what you can expect to pay for the different sizes of Dipped Cones:
- Kids Dipped Cone: $2.99
- Small Dipped Cone: $3.99
- Medium Dipped Cone: $4.59
- Large Dipped Cone: $5.19
Dairy Queen prices differ from location to location, so make sure to check your local store for the most accurate pricing.
There are several discontinued Dairy Queen Cone Dip flavors.

The Cherry Dip isn’t the only discontinued Dairy Queen flavor. We’ve seen several flavors cycle out of the dip rotation. Here are a few of our favorites that we hope to see again:
- Creamsicle Dip
- Cotton Candy Dip
- Fruity Blast Dip
