Kohl’s curbside pickup service started in April 2020 during the pandemic, but the limited-contact way of shopping has stuck around. A good thing, too, because Kohl’s curbside pickup is now my favorite way to shop Kohl’s. It’s easy, fast and, best of all, free.
The official name of Kohl’s curbside pickup is “Free Drive Up.” While you can make an in-store pickup purchase at any location — meaning you order online and then go inside a store to customer service to get your stuff — only some stores offer Kohl’s curbside pickup.
Here’s how to use Kohl’s free curbside pickup service.
1. Place your store pickup order via the Kohl’s app or website.
When shopping in the Kohl’s app or Kohl’s website, look for the “FREE Store Pickup Today” option when adding something to your cart.
Not all Kohl’s stores offer limited-contact curbside pickup, but you can check if the Kohl’s nearest you offers the service.
2. Kohl’s curbside pickup is limited to the store’s inventory.
If the item you want isn’t available at your nearest store, you can check other nearby stores — if it’s available and not too far of a drive for you, rock on.
FYI, your card is charged as soon as you place the order (not when you pick it up).
3. Kohl’s pickup orders are usually ready in about two hours.
You have to place the order at least two hours before the store closes to guarantee it’ll be ready the same day. When your order is ready, you’ll get an email and/or text message letting you know.
4. Find the designated store pickup parking spot out front.
When using Kohl’s drive-up option, pull into the designated store pickup parking spot, and follow the directions in your email. They’ll be a button that allows you to alert a Kohl’s associate that you’ve arrived, and a barcode they can scan to make sure you get the right order.
An associate will bring your items to your car and place them directly in your trunk.
5. Kohl’s pickup orders are held for seven days.
