10 Kohl's Look-alikes That Are So Good, You'd Swear They're the Real Brand

Look-alikes, dupes...whatever you want to call them, more affordable takes on trending items are such a hardcore retail win. And if you haven't already noticed, Kohl's is bringing their look-alike A-game right now. Actually, if you haven't walked inside a Kohl's recently, it's worth a peek. Between Sephora at Kohl's and the upcoming arrival of Babies R Us at Kohl's, there's a lot of changes within the store in a very fresh way.

Before, would I have expected to find a Free People bag dupe at Kohl's? Probably not. But they have one...and it's 48% less than the FP version. Just take my money, Kohl's (but, ya know, less of it than Free People would like).

The biggest difference between the Free People Quilted Carryall and the FLX Quilted Shoulder Bag at Kohl's is that the latter is roughly two inches smaller on all sides. But considering the Kohl's FLX Quilted Bag ($35) is $33 cheaper than the FP option, I'm willing to forgo that small amount of extra space.

Abercrombie & Fitch Denim Mini Dress ($80) vs. Juniors' SO® Denim Mini Dress ($49.99)

These two dresses are virtually the same, except that you can get the Abercrombie version in black denim, whereas the Kohl's Juniors' SO Denim Mini Dress ($49.99) comes in only a blue denim wash. But not only is the Kohl's version $30 cheaper, you can also earn Kohl's Cash on that purchase, which ultimately offers more savings.

lululemon Align Tank Top ($68) vs. Juniors' SO® Sporty V Neck Cropped Tank Top ($19.99)

Sure, the lululemon Align Tank Top offers "light support" across different bra sizes, but Kohl's Juniors' SO Sporty V-Neck Cropped Tank ($19.99) is partially lined and comes in near-exact colors to lululemon. For the $48 price difference, I'm going with Kohl's. It's also worth noting we've seen that Kohl's tank on sale for $14.99, which bumps the savings even more.

L.L.Bean Boat and Tote Zip-Top ($44.95) vs. Lands' End Natural Zip Top Canvas Tote Bag ($39.95 - $40.95)

Did you know Kohl's sells Lands' End products? Well, they do. And the LL.Bean Boat and Tote is basically twinsies with the Lands' End Natural Zip Top Canvas Tote ($39.95 - $40.95, Kohl's). At first glance that doesn't seem like much of a price differential — $4 or $5. However, you only have to meet a $49 order threshold for free shipping at Kohl's, whereas L.L.Bean has a $75 free ship requirement. On top of that you can earn 5% in Kohl's Rewards and Kohl's Cash on the Lands' End purchase (at Kohl's, of course). So the savings begin to tick up.

OFFLINE By Aerie Wow! Waffle High Waisted Shorts ($34.95) vs. Juniors' SO® Waffle Knit Dolphin Hem Shorts ($14.99)

Even when Aerie has these shorts on sale for $24.46 (that's 30% off regular price), they're still $10 more expensive then the Kohl's Juniors' SO Waffle Knit Dolphin Hem Shorts ($14.99). And, the Kohl's version comes in seven different colors, as opposed to Aerie's five color choices.

Bonobos Hudson Sweater Polo ($119) vs. Men's Apt. 9® Cable Knit Polo ($40)

Both of these polos offer the same retro vibes, but very, very different price tags. The Men's Apt. 9 Cable Knit Polo ($40) is shockingly $79 less than the similar Bonobos offering. Now the Bonobos styles do come in materials like linen and cashmere, while the Kohl's version is constructed from cotton, acrylic, rayon, and nylon. But I'd be less nervous about spilling something on the latter materials than, say, cashmere. Wouldn't you?

Marks & Spencer Slim Fit Check Stretch Suit Jacket ($155) vs. Men's Apt. 9® Premier Flex Performance Slim-Fit Washable Suit Jacket ($120)

So aside from the $35 price difference between these two suit jackets, you're immediately earning $20 Kohl's Cash on the Men's Apt. 9 Slim-Fit Washable Suit Jacket ($120). That makes it feel more like a $100 jacket to me when you factor that in. And their Smoke Grey Plaid pattern is strikingly similar to Marks & Spencer's Check suit.

When it comes to basics, it's hard to beat the prices and variety Kohl's offers with their house brands, like Sonoma Goods For Life. Case in point: The Sonoma Goods For Life Supersoft Crewneck Tee ($9.99) clocks in at just under $10, as opposed to a similar style from Madewell retailing for $35. You can actually buy three of these tees at Kohl's for less than the price of one Madewell tee.

Abercrombie & Fitch New York Yankees '47 Clean-Up Hat ($35) vs. Kohl's '47 Navy New York Yankees Heritage Clean Up Hat ($26)

These hats in navy look pretty darn identical to me, so why pay $9 more at Abercrombie when you can get a '47 New York Yankees Heritage Clean Up Hat ($26) at Kohl's? This feels like absolutely the easiest way to save money.

Madewell The Weekend Short ($75) vs. Sonoma Goods For Life® 9" Flexwear Flat Front Shorts ($29.99)

The biggest difference between these two pairs of shorts is that Madewell's in-seam is 6", whereas the Sonoma Goods For Life 9" Flexwear Flat Front Shorts ($29.99) have, you guessed it, a 9" in-seam. So if you're really itching to show more leg, that could be a deciding factor. But with a $45 price difference and nearly identical color offerings, I know which pair I am choosing.
