McDonald’s announced their plans to release a new spin-off restaurant, the McDonald’s CosMc. While we don’t know exactly what the restaurant will look like yet (presumably something “spacey” by the name), more news should come in Dec. 2023 at McDonald’s Investor’s Day. The project is expected to debut in 2024. However, again, release date information is limited at this time.
That said, there are nuggets of info (see what we did there?) available and we’re sharing what to expect from this new concept below.

The McDonald’s CosMc is a throwback character from the late 80s.
What is the McDonald’s CosMc? Much like Grimace, the Fry Kids, and the Hamburgler, the CosMc is a throwback character. CosMc was featured in McDonald’s commercials from 1986 to 1992. CosMc is known for their love of McDonald’s fries (and having six arms). They appear briefly in a McDonald’s-themed video game in which the McDonaldland characters visit the moon.
With the recent release of the McDonald’s Grimace Shake and the throwback characters in the McDonald’s Adult Happy Meal toys, the chain is embracing their history. It looks like we can expect to see more releases based on these characters.

The new McDonald’s restaurant will be a ‘small format’ version of regular McDonald’s.
While the details of the CosMc restaurants haven’t been fully released, McDonald’s has confirmed that it will be a “small format” version of the original McDonald’s restaurants. CosMc restaurants will only appear in select markets. We’ll make sure to update you when more news drops.
We expect that info from he McDonald’s Investors Meeting held at the end of 2023.
