As of summer 2021, SHEIN rules fast fashion. They own 28% of the fast-fashion market worldwide and have more than 50 million followers on social media. They’ve surpassed H&M and Zara when it comes to sales, and it’s easy to see why when you look at their prices.

But I’m here to show you how to bring SHEIN’s prices down even further — think: clothes discounted 60 – 80% off regular-price. Here’s everything you need to know about shopping SHEIN.

Don’t forget to download the KCL app for the latest deals, tips, and coupons.

1. Download the SHEIN app and sign up for an account to earn 10% and 15% off coupons.

SHEIN throws a lot of coupons at you early on. The easiest ones to take advantage of, though, are two coupons you’ll receive when you download the SHEIN app (here’s the android version) and sign up for a SHEIN account.

These coupons expire one week after you earn them, so try to sign up around the time you’re planning to buy from SHEIN. Unfortunately, they only allow one coupon per purchase, but there are other alternatives to earning stackable rewards.

Buy 1 Plus Floral Surplice Front Flutter Sleeve Swing Dress (reg. $16) $9, sale price
Use unique code for 15% off
Free shipping on Sundays
Final Price: $7.65

2. Check in to the SHEIN app every day to earn about $5 every three months.

You don’t have to spend a penny in order to start earning rewards at SHEIN. That’s because they’ll give you points every time you check in to their app — and if you check in on consecutive days, your rewards increase.

Checking in is easy. From the home screen, tap the “Check-In” tab near the top of the page, and you’re good. At SHEIN, one point = $0.01, but if you check in every day over any 7-day period, you’ll earn around 38 points. I did this for three months and managed to earn $4.94 that I could use on any purchase!

Here’s how else to earn SHEIN’s points.

  • Verify your email; get 100 points
  • Fill out a short survey; 20 points
  • Post a comment on social media; 5 points
  • Post a comment with size info; 2 points
  • Post a comment with pictures; 10 points
  • Get your post featured by SHEIN; 50 points
  • Win a livestream contest; 50 points
  • Participate in a livestream; points vary, but they max out at 400 points

You can receive up to 2000 points daily by commenting on social media. Check their app and social media for new contests daily.

Most rewards expire three months after you earn them.

3. SHEIN’s Free Trial program gives you a chance each week to order free clothes.

SHEIN has a Free Trial program where you can fill out an application to get free SHEIN clothing to try out and review.

Applications take about a week to process, and items will take about 10 – 12 days to ship. If you’re wary about SHEIN’s clothing quality, this is a great way to test out their fit and quality. You’re limited to three applications per week.

Three winners are selected for each item, so we recommend looking at how many people have applied to each item. The lower the number of applicants, the better your chances are for getting free clothes.

4. Use a SHEIN reference code to save an additional $2 – $3 on all orders.

SHEIN doesn’t allow shoppers to stack more than one coupon code at a time, but that rule doesn’t apply to reference codes you find from SHEIN’s brand ambassadors on TikTok, Reddit, or YouTube.

I found mine easily. All I did was search “SHEIN reference code” in TikTok, and the first few results all had reference codes. When you find one, head to the “My Reference” section of your account page and enter the code.

The code will be automatically stacked on any purchase you make, with no limit or expiration. I was able to stack this code with $3 of rewards and a 10% off code I found through the app when I bought this dress for my niece. That brought my savings to 81%!

Buy 1 Baby Girls’ Sunflower Combo A-line Dress $7, regular price
Use unique code for 10% off
Use $3.04 in rewards
Use reference code for $2 off
Free shipping on Sundays
Final Price: $1.26

5. Shop SHEIN on Sundays for free shipping on all orders.

SHEIN runs flash sales that often have free shipping. Rather than guess when those will hit, though, I always go ahead and shop on Sundays, when standard shipping is free on all orders regardless of how much you spend.

Don’t expect standard shipping to reach you less than two weeks after you place your order, though. SHEIN’s standard shipping takes 13 – 17 days once you factor in their processing time.

6. Hit SHEIN’s Cyber Monday sale for Buy 1 Get 1 99% off.

SHEIN does give you a few opportunities throughout the year to save big without the usual coupon-, reward- and sale-stacking. One of the best is SHEIN’s Cyber Monday sale. In 2020, SHEIN offered a Buy 1, Get 1 99% off.

I used that to save $36.63 when I bought two pairs of super-comfy sweatpants!

Buy 1 Men’s Seam Front Slant Pocket Joggers $40
Get 1 Solid Pocket Side Sweatpants (reg. $37), $0.37 sale price
Free shipping on orders $29 or more
Final Price: $40.37

7. Buy SHEIN dresses and sweaters 80% off during their anniversary sale in October.

If you’re shopping for dresses and sweaters, you’ll want to hit SHEIN’s anniversary sale in October. The sale begins on Oct. 13 each year, and we’ve seen 80% discounts on outerwear, sweaters, and dresses — like this sweater dress we found for $3.40 (reg. $17).

Buy 1 V-Neck Tie Front Knit Dress (reg. $17), $3.40 sale price
Free shipping on Sundays
Final Price: $3.40

8. Save 60% on SHEIN bottoms during their Buy More, Save More Sale in February.

SHEIN’s February Buy More, Save More is the best sale time to buy bottoms. We saved $25.20 on three pairs of bottoms when we saw this sale hit in 2020.

Buy 3 Select Bottoms $14, regular price
60% off when you buy 3
Free shipping on orders of $49+
Final Price: $5.60 each, when you buy 3

9. Do image searches through the SHEIN app to save 75% compared to clothes from other retailers.

I saved 75% (nearly $50) on a button-up shirt when I compared prices using the “Visual Search” function in the SHEIN app.

To use it, hit the search button on the bottom of the app and tap the camera icon in the search bar. From there, upload a screenshot that includes the piece of clothing you’re looking for — I uploaded an image of a Gap shirt listed at $69.95.

The SHEIN app scanned the image and found me an identical shirt in style and color for $20, which I brought down to $17 with my reference code.

If there’s one drawback, it’s that the app has a difficult time matching material. But it’s still worth a shot for the potential savings alone.

10. Get SHEIN used at places like thredUp or Plato’s Closet if you don’t want to support fast fashion.

If you stay away from fast fashion, then good alternatives would be the Buffalo Exchange, thredUp, and Plato’s Closet, which boast prices similar to or even cheaper than what we’ve found on SHEIN. Take this Apt. 9 cardigan, which we found at thredUp for $13.85 after taxes and shipping.

Buy 1 Apt. 9 Cardigan (reg. $14.99) $6.99, sale price
Pay $5.99 for shipping
Final Price: $13.85
Compare to SHEIN for $15.94

PRO TIP: Speaking of thredUp, be sure to read our tips on how to make the most out of selling your old clothes.

11. Get free expedited shipping when you spend over $99.

When you spend over $99, you earn free expedited shipping, which generally takes 9 – 12 days.

If you do pay for shipping, standard shipping is a flat fee of 3.99 plus $0.99 in shipping taxes. That’s cheaper than shipping within the United States, but when standard shipping only takes a few days longer (and is free on Sundays), I have a hard time justifying paying the extra cost.

12. SHEIN takes 5% off gift cards valued at $200 or more.

Normally we recommend shopping for discount gift cards from places like Raise.com, but Raise doesn’t carry SHEIN gift cards.

SHEIN’s 5% discount only applies to gift cards $200 and up, but the savings are still there if you don’t mind paying more up front than the normal prices we see on Raise.

13. You won’t pay for shipping when you make your first SHEIN return.

SHEIN gives you 45 days following your purchase date to return a product. They only accept items that have the original tags and packaging intact — including their hygiene sticker. If they can tell clothes have been worn or washed, SHEIN won’t accept those either.

Oh, and enjoy the free return shipping while you can. After your first return, SHEIN leaves you on the hook for the $7.99 return shipping cost.
