Michaels is my family's go-to store whenever we get bit with the crafting bug. This summer Michaels is offering a low-cost, in-store program for craft-loving kids between the ages of 5 and 12. Each week children will get to experience in-store presentations and create amazing crafts while learning about history, art and animals.

How to sign up

Visit the website here and click on "Kids’ Programs" followed by "Book Your Class Now." There’s a small fee for each class (only $2 per child), but all of the supplies are included!

When events are held

Michaels’ Passport to Imagination Museum Road Trip events are held until August 2nd. Classes are every Monday, Wednesday and Friday—and you can expect different crafts and presentations at every event! Each adventure is about two hours long, lasting from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (just in time for nap time!).

Available events

Every week Michaels will feature a different museum. You can expect crafts and exhibits inspired by the Denver Art Museum, Perot Museum of Nature and Science, the Pima Air & Space Museum, the Georgia Aquarium, The Field Museum, The Museum at Fashion Institute of Technology, and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Each event features amazing crafts and hands-on activities I haven’t seen anywhere else. For example, my daughter made fossil impressions, created some memorable fossil art, and designed her very own dinosaur!

What you can expect

Although Michaels prefers kids ages 5 through 12, the entire family is always encouraged to participate—no matter your age!  While supplies last, Michaels is also giving away free souvenir albums at each camp. These albums are great places to store kids’ projects. Plus, the fun doesn't have to end when camp is over! Michaels always offers additional kits to take home at the end of each event. Each kit is reasonably priced (typically around $15) and is full of hours of fun to keep your kids busy when school’s out of session!
