It seems a new deals site appears every day. One recent addition is Yuupon, a Groupon-type clone that offers weekly specials on hotels, attractions and other travel components…as well as other consumer items. Like Groupon, these deals represent at least a 50 percent savings and are only valid if a certain number of people buy into the deal. Similar to Priceline, the name and exact location of the hotel or attraction isn’t revealed until you purchase the deal, although you are given an approximate location and a star rating. Below is a sampling of this week’s Yuupon deals:
1. Las Vegas – Two nights’ accommodations at a four-star hotel one block from the Strip in Las Vegas for $176 (a $404 value.) Book by December 29, 2011; travel between December 26, 2011 and April 30, 2012.
2. Maui – Two nights’ accommodations at a four-star, beachfront resort in Maui in a standard room for two adults and up to two kids for $470 (a $940 value.) Book by May 31, 2012; travel January 1 – May 31, 2012.
3. Charleston, SC Golf Getaway – Three nights’ accommodations in a king whirlpool suite or a two queen suite for two adults at the Quality Inn Patriots Point in Charleston, South Carolina for $493 (a $871 value.) The deal also includes taxes, breakfast daily, wifi in the room and three rounds of golf per person. Book and travel by February 29, 2012. Several blackout dates apply.
4. Philadelphia – Two nights’ accommodations at a 3.5-star, downtown hotel for two adults in Philadelphia for $230 (a $540 value.) Book by May 31, 2012; travel between December 24, 2011 and May 31, 2012.
To take advantage of one of these deals, visit the Yuupon Web site. As with all of these sites, make sure that you read the fine print and restrictions before you give them your credit card number. All of these deals expire at 11:59 p.m. on December 31, 2011 or when they sell out.
