One of the new additions to the weekly deal game is Yuupon, a Groupon-type clone that offers weekly specials on hotels, attractions and other travel components…as well as other consumer items. Like Groupon, these deals represent at least a 50 percent savings and are only valid if a certain number of people buy into the deal. Similar to Priceline, the name and exact location of the hotel or attraction isn’t revealed until you purchase the deal, although you are given an approximate location and a star rating. Below is a sampling of this week’s Yuupon deals:
1. Atlantic City – Two nights’ accommodations for two adults at a charming bed and breakfast inn, The Carisibrooke Inn, for $128 (a $262 value.) The deal also includes a wine and cheese plate, a plate of cookies, breakfast and free WiFi. Book and travel by May 30, 2012.
2. San Francisco – Two nights’ accommodations for two adults in a standard king room at a 4.5-star hotel in San Francisco’s Union Square neighborhood for $330 (a $690 value.) Book by March 31, 2012; travel December 30 to March 31, 2012. This offer is available for New Year’s Eve.
3. Waikiki Beach, Hawaii – Two nights’ accommodations for two adults and up to two kids at a four-star, beachfront resort on the west end of Honolulu’s Waikiki Beach in Hawaii for $410 (a $820 value.) Book by December 31, 2012; travel February 1-December 31, 2012. No blackout dates apply.
4. Chicago – Two nights’ accommodations for two adults and up to two kids at a four-star hotel along Chicago’s Magnificent Mile for $300 (a $857 value.) That’s a 65% discount! Book and travel by May 31, 2012.
To take advantage of one of these deals, visit the Yuupon Web site. As with all of these sites, make sure that you read the fine print and restrictions before you give them your credit card number. All of these deals expire at 11:59 p.m. on January 11, 2012 or when they sell out.
