In March 2026, Shopkick's website shut down, and the business closed. If you have unredeemed kicks in your account, they're no longer redeemable, unfortunately.
The Shopkick app made it easy to turn your shopping trips into free gift cards for places you already spent money, like Target, Walmart, Starbucks, and Amazon. There were multiple ways to earn "kicks" on the app and turn those kicks into gift cards. We'll definitely miss it, but luckily, there are some alternatives.

What We Know About Shopkick Right Now
Here’s what's been confirmed:
-
The Shopkick app isn't working for many users.
-
The Shopkick website is currently down (404 error).
-
The company hasn't released an official statement.
-
Employees have reported layoffs on LinkedIn.
We're continuing to monitor for updates, but right now, everything points to a full shutdown.
Can You Still Redeem Your Kicks?
If you have unredeemed kicks, they don't appear to be accessible anymore. Right now, users are unable to redeem rewards. That means any remaining balances, pending offers, or recent purchases tied to Shopkick likely won't be paid out.
We'll update this if anything changes, but at this point, it's safest to assume those rewards are gone.
What to Do if You Used Shopkick
If you relied on Shopkick, it’s best to assume those rewards are no longer part of your savings plan. Here are the next steps to take:
-
Try logging in if the app briefly comes back online.
-
Screenshot your balance if you can access your account.
-
Don't rely on pending Shopkick offers in your deals.
-
Shift your rebate strategy to other apps for now.

How Shopkick Used to Work
We're keeping the info below for reference so you can see how Shopkick worked and how it compared to other rebate apps.
1. What was Shopkick and how did it work?
Shopkick was a rebate app that offered "kicks" (reward points) when you took certain actions either at a store or from home. These actions included things like walking into stores, scanning items, and more. Some of these actions didn't require a purchase, but others did.
2. What were kicks worth?

Most rewards came out to 250 kicks per dollar and followed this breakdown:
-
500 kicks = $2
-
1,250 kicks = $5
-
2,500 kicks = $10
-
3,750 kicks = $15
-
6,250 kicks = $25
3. How You Earned Kicks
1. Walk in.
Users could open the app and walk into participating stores that showed "Walk-in" kicks available under "Nearby." You'd automatically earn 10 kicks just for walking into the store. Shopkick had a limited budget for walk-ins, so if you didn't see the option to earn walk-in kicks and you knew that store offered them, it meant you'd reached your limit for the month.
2. Scan products.
You could select the store where you were shopping and tap the "Scan" icon, and then choose a product and scan it with your phone camera while still in the store. You didn't have to buy these items — just scan!
3. Make a purchase online.
You could buy something through the Shopkick portal (by clicking through the Shopkick app), and you'd earn kicks for every dollar you spent.
4. Watch videos.
You could tap "Discover" at the bottom of the app and watch ads to get between 1 and 5 kicks per video.
5. Scan receipts.
Once you made a purchase, you could upload your receipt to the Shopkick app to earn between 200 and 650 kicks, or even more if you bought bundles.
4. You could redeem your kicks for gift cards to Amazon, Target, Sephora, Walmart, and more.

Shopkick let you redeem kicks for gift cards to grocery stores like Walmart or Target to keep saving money, or splurge on something special with an Airbnb or Williams Sonoma gift card.
