Since 2010, when Amazon bought Woot.com, deal hunters have loved to shop for the latest deals and discounts that are updated daily on the site. To put it simply, Amazon Woot is basically a centralized hub for the clearance section of Amazon. Everything — and I mean everything — is marked down, at times up to 89%.

Some of the best-selling Woot deals that Krazy Coupon Lady readers have shopped over the years included a $9 Fire TV Stick, kids’ character Crocs for $12.99, and an Amazon Echo Dot for just $4. And that’s a select few of the hundreds we’ve found.

But if you have no idea what exactly Woot is, how it works, and how you can find the best deals, don’t worry: Here are my expert tips for how to shop Woot and how to find the best deals.

So, what is Amazon’s Woot?

Someone looking at the Woot website homepage

Woot is an Amazon-owned retail site that offers limited-time deals and clearance goods across seven categories. You can almost think of it as Amazon’s overstock website, where Amazon’s trying to get rid of product and will do so by launching daily deals. Woot was founded as its own website in 2004, and Amazon acquired the site in 2010.

You’ll find exclusive, daily sales (up to 89% off) on home and kitchen products, electronics, computers, tools and garden items, sports and outdoor goods, shirts, and grocery and household necessities.

Woot is also known for their “crap bags,” which are basically clearance blind bags that the site will sell at random. You can never predict when these go on sale. You just have to be ready to grab one once one’s in stock.

Basically, you pay a flat amount of $10 ($5 for the bag plus $5 for shipping). Then, they send you a bag with random items. It’s a clever way to get rid of clearance products, and some people have even said they got a laptop in one of their bags. Others claim to have gotten just one shoe. You never know what you’re going to get, just that it falls into one of the above categories. But buyer beware, there are no returns for bags of crap. You get what you get, and Woot doesn’t seem to mind if you get upset.

Another thing to note about Woot’s offering is that they don’t have a consistent product catalog. Items are sold for a limited amount of time or until they run out of stock. Some sales are only there for the day while others last almost a month. Just note that there are limits on the number of items available per customer.

Since they’re an Amazon site, Woot offers free standard shipping through Amazon Prime. This standard shipping option usually takes about three to five business days. If you log in using your Prime info, the discount is automatically applied to your order. And, if you’re trying to get some new threads, you can get free Express shipping on Shirt.Woot orders. Free express shipping takes roughly two to three business days.

To make sure you only get the best deals, you can do a few things. First, don’t be tempted by items that you wouldn’t normally buy otherwise. Find something you’d actually use, then take a few minutes to cross-check prices with other websites like Overstock or eBay.

While Woot doesn’t have an option where you can sign up for deal alerts, you can visit third-party sites like WootStalker. WootStalker sends you notifications to your phone as soon as a new deal is listed. You can also download the Woot App for daily push notifications, but these alerts won’t be tied to timely deals.

Lastly, follow the Woot forums to get all you need to know about real user experiences with Woot. It’s basically like Reddit for Woot, where shoppers freely share in-depth product reviews. People also like to discuss what deals they got during Woot Prime Appreciation Week.

Shop during Woot Prime Appreciation Week.

Just like Amazon, Woot has its own Prime Day. Aptly named the Woot Prime Appreciation Week, the event promises nine days of “even bigger than usual” sales. This year, the shopping event is slated for March 27 through April 5. Last year, we saw Woot give away a free XBOX Series X, a $1 ScanSmart laptop messenger bag, and $1 to $50 coupons you could redeem on games, gag gifts, and groceries.
