Yes, Black Friday is a good time of year to buy a treadmill, as you’ll see some of the steepest sales of the year. That doesn’t mean it’s the only good time to buy a piece of exercise equipment, though. So if you happen to miss the Black Friday treadmill deals, you’ll have other opportunities to save.
When else do treadmills go on sale?
Black Friday is one of the best times to buy, but there are also great sales on treadmills at the end of January.
If you wait until then, you won’t be able to use your exercise equipment to start your workout goals on Jan. 1. But there’s a good chance you could find lower prices as demand drops once everyone else gives up on their New Year’s resolutions by Feb. 1. And hey, maybe you can even find one barely used, secondhand from a resolution buy gone wrong.

Which treadmill brands are the best?
The two most universally loved home treadmill brands are NordicTrack and Sole. Up until 2021, Peloton was on the list, too. But they had to issue massive recalls after their treadmills caused scores of injuries and the death of a child. Still, a treadmill doesn’t necessarily have to be a well-known brand to be a good buy.
What size treadmill do I need?
When looking for a home treadmill, make sure to measure your space to ensure the machine will fit. You’ll want to avoid ones that are more “industrial,” like the kind you’ll find at the gym. Not only are they more expensive, they’re also usually bigger.
Instead, opt for smaller machines. There are compact varieties and even under-desk treadmills. Not only are these better for small spaces, but they’re also cheaper. You can get a reasonable walking pad for about $200, or about $800 less than a traditional treadmill. Just note that a walking pad is, as the name implies, made for walking. Mine doesn’t go faster than about 4 mph.

Aim to pay less than $1,000 for a home treadmill.
When it comes to treadmill pricing, there’s a range.
You can find ultracheap treadmills at places like Walmart. They might meet your needs for a little while, but you’re getting what you pay for in terms of quality. These treadmills can be had for just a few hundred dollars.
But if you want something durable and not ultra noisy, you’ll want to spring for the good brands, like NordicTrack or Sole. These treadmills can run you anywhere between $1,000 to $4,000, though. Luckily, during the Black Friday season, there are sales that can literally save you $1,000+.
Know where to look for the best Black Friday treadmill deals.
Some of the best places to find Black Friday treadmill deals are directly through the manufacturers themselves. For example, Sole had some Black Friday sales up, plus free delivery on all orders, and NordicTrack had some, too.

Based on what we saw in 2023, here are the deals we expect for 2024. The best deals we saw on smaller treadmills were at Amazon and Target. For more high-end models, we found good prices at Dick’s Sporting Goods and Academy Sports and Outdoors. Here’s a quick overview of the sales to help you prepare for the next Black Friday:
Target
In 2023, we saw the Costway 800W Folding Treadmill on sale for as much as 65% off. In terms of larger models, the SuperFit 2.25HP Electric Treadmill was 57% off. Plus, you could get an extra 5% off that sale price by using a Target RedCard.
Amazon
If you were in the market for a walking pad, Amazon was your best bet in 2023. They had options for as little as $159 with discounts as deep as 68% off. The models offered were smaller so they were more suited to under-desk usage or a casual stroll while watching Netflix.
Dick’s Sporting Goods
Dick’s had sales on larger models made for heavy usage and faster running than your typical walking pad or folding treadmill. This included the Horizon Fitness T101 GO Series Treadmill, which was 40% off for Black Friday.
Academy Sports and Outdoors
Similar to Dick’s, Academy also had some sizable discounts on more heavy-duty treadmills. For example, you could save 50% on the ProForm Pro 9000 Treadmill.
