National Bagel Day is here, and that means we’re celebrating these ring-shaped bread rolls all day long with freebies and deep discounts. Whether you like your bagel smothered in cream cheese or with lox and capers, you’ll be able to savor them all on one of our favorite food holidays — National Bagel Day.
Not to be confused with National Donut Day on June 2, National Bagel Day is a celebration of its more savory cousin, and restaurants are offering deals to mark the occasion.
If you want to know the cheapest ways to get bagels, we know all the bagel coupons that you should be using on your next grocery run.
When is National Bagel Day?
National Bagel Day is celebrated every year on Jan. 15, and in 2023, it’s on Sunday, Jan. 15. Although bagels can be traced back to Polish-Jewish communities as early as 1610, it wasn’t until the 20th century when the bagel maker was popularized and became a staple in American grocery stores.
National Bagel Day used to be on Feb. 9, which is also National Pizza Day, but Thomas Bagels’ efforts got bagels their own day as of 2014.
