National Lipstick Day falls on July 29 every year. And as, always, we saw some fun freebies and deals to celebrate this lip-focused holiday. In 2022, Maybelline gave away 40,000 full-size lipsticks absolutely free. This deal gained so much attention, all the free lipstick was claimed that same day. In 2023, they switched things up. Maybelline is giving away $240 in Lip Kits to 85 winners.
Instead of offering up free tubes of lipstick to thousands of fans, Maybelline is giving away bigger prizes to a smaller number of winners. Enter the Ultimate Lip Kit Giveaway for a chance to win over $200 in lip color prizes. Maybelline will choose 85 lucky winners to receive a kit full of Super Stay® Vinyl Ink lip color and iconic Super Stay® Matte Ink lipstick, worth $239.90.
Maybelline’s membership program is currently paused.
To get in on the Maybelline freebie in 2022, all you had to do was sign up for their loyalty program, Maybelline Express, by Tuesday, July 26, 2022, and opt into their emails. Then on July 29, Maybelline Express members received an email in their inbox to claim one of the free lipsticks. It paid to act fast because these babies were claimed quickly and once they were gone, they were gone for good.
However, the Maybelline Express program is currently under construction. We have no word yet on whether it will be back for any Lipstick Days, but with the new giveaway announcement, we’re going to assume that it won’t be.
So, how can else we get cheap lipstick on National Lipstick Day? Here’s what to expect in 2024.

- Ulta: 40% off select lip products from top brands. Buy one, get one 50% drugstore brands.
- Macy’s: Up to 40% off brands like Anastasia, Too Faced, and M.A.C.

- Kylie Cosmetics: Free lip product with minimum order value (it was $40 in 2023).
- Kevyn Aucoin Beauty: 20% off all lip products and a product with minimum lip purchase.
- M·A·C: 40% off select lip products.
- Target: 20% off lipstick for one day only. (They excluded Ulta @ Target, minis, lip balm, chapstick, and clearance items. Brands included: Revlon, NYX, Maybelline, ZuZu Luxe, Milani in 2023.)
- Target: Buy 1, get 1 25% off select lip products for one day. (Included Mented Cosmetics, e.l.f., NYX Professional, Covergirl, L.A. Girl, Milani lip oils, Pixi, ColourPop Lux, essence, Wet n Wild, Revlon, Neutrogena and more.)
- Pat McGrath: A rare 30% off select lip products.
- Lancôme: Buy one, get one free on lipstick or gloss.
- Sephora: For one day only, they offered 50% off select lip products.
