My kids are back in school. And the germs are back in our household. We've already had one sick day and we're only two weeks into the new year.
While I was on sick-kid duty, I realized my medicine cabinet had a few nearly expired bottles that I need to replace before cold and flu season really goes into effect.
So of course I went looking for a way to not pay full price. And I found two. One using one of the Walgreens coupons takes 10 seconds, and one that takes a little more work but pays a lot better. Here's how to do it.

First, clip the $1.50 coupon
There's a new coupon that takes $1.50 off one Children's TYLENOL® or Children's MOTRIN® pain and fever relief product at Walgreens.
It's digital, so there's nothing to print. Just clip it in your myWalgreens account and it applies automatically at checkout.

If you do nothing else in this post, clip that and you're $1.50 ahead on something you were going to buy anyway.
But one note on timing before you go: If you can wait until Sunday, Sept. 13, do it. There's a second offer running that week that turns this trip into a much better deal, and I'll walk you through it below.
Now, the part worth $30
There's a rebate running alongside this called Cabinet Cleanout. Every $1 you spend on participating products earns 100 points, and you cash points in for gift cards or Fandango codes.
Shop Walgreens and upload your receipt at CabinetCleanout.com by Nov. 15, and redeem by Nov. 30. Purchases can be spread across multiple trips.
Here's a specific combination that pays better than anything I've seen this fall:
1. Get 500 points before you buy anything. Make your account tonight: 125 points for signing up, 125 for opting into Care Club, 125 for a short video, 125 for a survey. Five minutes on the couch, no purchase, no receipt.
2. Shop Walgreens from Sept. 13 - 19. That's their double-points week, where $1 earns 200 points instead of 100. Plus the $1.50 coupon is valid during this timeframe. Shop any other week and you're picking one discount instead of both.
3. Redeem in $10 chunks. A $10 reward costs 2,000 points, which is a 50% return on your spend and the best redemption rate. You can claim three rewards per account, so $30 is the ceiling.
Put those three together: $27.50 of Children's TYLENOL® and MOTRIN® during Walgreens' double-points week gets you $30 in rewards. Not $30 off your total. It's $30 back! You come out ahead with a replenished medicine cabinet. I've been doing this long enough to tell you that's rare.

Buy only what you need
Children's fever medicine has a shelf life (which is why I had to replenish in the first place). So resist the urge to buy six bottles just to hit a points threshold. Expired medicine you throw out isn't a deal, it's money in the trash.
If you need more spend to reach a reward tier, round out the cart with things that won't expire on you. Think Band-Aid bandages, Listerine, and Neutrogena or Aveeno products you'd buy anyway. Same points, no waste.
