In 2026, the sale kicked off the Wednesday before Presidents Day weekend and ran through the holiday weekend. Expect the sale to have different stages. The mid-week early deals are usually on furniture, with deals on clothing and smaller home goods starting on the Saturday of Presidents Day weekend. So if you're after deals on big-ticket items, be ready early. If you're after a wider range of deals, wait until the holiday weekend.

Macy's Star Rewards, the retailer's loyalty program, gives members points on Macy's purchases that you can redeem as Macy's Star Money (1,000 points = $10 Star Money Reward). The starter tier (Bronze) earns 1 point per $1 spent (so you have to spend $1,000 at Macy's to get $10 in Star Money).
If you're buying big-ticket items on sale during the Presidents Day Sale, it's an opportunity to rack up some Star Money. If you have Star Money in your Macy's account, consider redeeming it during Presidents Day. What usually goes on sale for Presidents Day?
Again, this is a big time for discounts on bedding, like comforter sets, mattresses, and pillows. You'll also see other homewares on sale, like kitchen gadgets, towels, curtains, and more. At Macy's, every department has some markdowns, but the deals won't be as major as they will for clothing, shoes, toys, and beauty.
