Healthcare workers started getting a little more credit for the work they do during the COVID-19 pandemic — but it hasn’t made their jobs any easier. Thankfully, some companies — like Verizon — have started offering discounts specifically for healthcare workers. With the Verizon healthcare discount, you can save on your 5G and unlimited wireless plan each month and unlock additional savings on Fios internet.

Here’s what you should know about the Verizon healthcare discount, how it works, and who can claim the savings.

The Verizon healthcare discount only applies to certain types of nurses and respiratory therapists.

To qualify for the Verizon healthcare discount, you must be currently employed as one of the following types of nurses:

  • Licensed practical nurse (LPN)
  • Licensed vocational nurse (LVN)
  • Nurse practitioner (NP)
  • Registered nurse (RN)
  • A respiratory therapist with a valid National Provider Identifier (NPI) number

You’ll also need to be the Verizon account owner or account manager to qualify for the discount.

How do they verify my status?

When you first sign up, Verizon will verify your employment status with ID.me in order to confirm your eligibility. And they’ll revalidate your status once a year. You will get an email notifying you when it’s time to provide proof again.

TIP: Since Verizon also offers a military discount, if you’re a nurse and a veteran, you may only be eligible for one discount at a time. Other healthcare workers may qualify for a discount based on their employer. Go here to see if your employer qualifies.

You’ll save $10 – $25 on your monthly wireless bill with the Verizon healthcare discount.

If you have just one phone, the Verizon healthcare discount will get you a monthly discount of $10. For two or three phones, you’ll get a monthly discount of $25 per account. If you have four or more phones, you’ll get a monthly discount of $20 per account.

So what’s the catch? For starters, only certain Verizon plans are compatible with the discount. You can’t have a prepaid plan or a promotional plan and get the discount.

Nurses and respiratory therapists can only qualify for the monthly discount if they have one of the following Verizon wireless plans:

  • 5G Do More
  • 5G Get More
  • 5G Play More
  • 5G Start
  • Do More Unlimited
  • Get More Unlimited
  • Just Kids
  • One Unlimited for iPhone
  • Play More Unlimited
  • Welcome Unlimited

Verizon does let you stack certain discounts with the healthcare savings. Here are the discounts they let you combine with the Verizon healthcare discount:

  • The Disney Bundle
  • Disney+ on us
  • Mobile + Home Discount
  • Monthly auto pay and paper-free billing discount

The discount also saves you $5 – $15 per month on Fios internet.

Nurses and respiratory therapists can also receive these discounts on Verizon Fios home internet:

  • $5 off 300 Mbps
  • $10 off 500 Mbps
  • $15 off 1 Gig
