Southwest Airlines is offering more perks to Rapid Rewards Members. The coronavirus epidemic has sidelined countless industries, with air travel being majorly affected. Southwest Chairman and CEO Gary Kelly recently updated customers on some changes the company is making in response to the current travel situation.

Southwest is adjusting Companion Pass benefits and Tier Status.

Because travel has been massively disrupted by the coronavirus, Southwest is adjusting certain benefits to prepare customers for the future return of air travel:

  • The earned status for A-List and A-List Preferred members will extend through December 31, 2021.
  • The earned Companion Pass benefits for Companion Pass members is extended through June 30, 2021.
  • Rapid Rewards members will receive 10 flight credits and 15,000 tier qualifying points for A-List and A-List preferred status.
  • All Rapid Rewards members also receive 25 flight credits and 25,000 qualifying points for Companion Pass status.

Southwest is majorly extending the expiration date on Travel Funds.

In addition to Southwest’s loyalty adjustments, they have made changes to their travel funds as well. Travel funds created or expiring between March 1st and September 7, 2020 will now expire on September 7, 2022. Additionally, those travel funds can be converted into Rapid Rewards points, which never expire.
