With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, we’ve rounded up our favorite (cheap and easy) DIY Valentine’s Day wreath ideas to decorate your front door. You don’t have to be a craft expert to make these DIY wreath ideas, and you don’t have to be rich either. These are family-friendly crafts that any level crafter can do. Plus, you won’t spend more than $5 on the supplies for each wreath.
You can find what you’ll need for each of these DIY wreath ideas at the dollar store. The hoops for the wreaths come in packs of three, and you’ll find small, medium, and large wreath size options in our post. If your local dollar store doesn’t have any of these items in stock, you can absolutely get creative and make some substitutions. We’ll share some alternative ideas where we can.

1. Heart & Arrow Wreath, $2

This Cupid’s arrow wreath is one of the most affordable options on our list. Take a few paint samples from your hardware store and a couple of pencils — voila!
What you’ll need:
- Paint swatches
- Two pencils
- Twine
- Glue
- Scissors and a heart template, or
- Heart hole punch (optional)


Directions:
- Use glue and tape to create one long pencil from the two separate pencils.
- Next, using one of the larger paint swatches, cut out a heart that’s shaped like an arrowhead and another heart to be the base of the arrow.
- Create a 1-inch heart template you can trace to cut out small hearts from the paint swatches.
- Attach twine at different lengths down the pencils, and glue heart paint swatch cutouts onto the twine.
Tip: You can also purchase a heart paper punch for around $8 to make this craft even easier.

2. Rose & Heart Hoop Wreath, $4

Using just a few felt heart stickers and some felt roses, this minimalist wreath makes for a great piece of wall art. Hang it in your kid’s room or anywhere else in your home that needs a little Valentine’s Day cheer.
What you’ll need:
- Felt roses
- Heart stickers
- Wreath hoop in your preferred size
- Popsicle stick

Directions:
- Adhere the heart stickers to the wreath form. Use two stickers for each heart (one on the front and one on the back) for stability.
- Use glue to adhere the felt roses in a pretty bunch to a popsicle stick.
- Glue the popsicle stick to the wreath form near the bottom.
Tip: Since the hoop wire is quite thin, use a good amount of hot glue on the popsicle stick to keep it in place.

3. Yarn Pom Pom Wreath, $4

This wreath takes a bit of time when it comes to creating all the pom poms, but the end product is so fluffy and pretty that it’s worth every second. Choose pink, red, or white yarn to stick to a V-Day theme.
What you’ll need:
- Yarn
- Ribbon
- Wreath hoop


Directions:
- Wrap the yarn around a smaller book 20 times.
- Tie the yarn loop in the middle.
- Cut the two ends.
- Wrap the yarn around the hoop and tie.

4. Foam Heart Wreath, $3

This DIY wreath idea couldn’t be simpler. Just grab a handful of foam hearts in various Valentine’s Day colors and some letter stickers. You’ll you have your own conversation heart wreath that’s lightweight and super affordable to make.
What you’ll need:
- Round floral wreath form
- Foam hearts
- Letter stickers


Directions:
- Lay the wreath down on a flat surface.
- Use hot glue to adhere the foam hearts, slightly overlapping, around the wreath form.
- Use letter stickers to make this a conversation heart wreath with sayings like Be Mine or Ur Cute.
Tip: Use low heat for the hot glue to keep the foam from melting. You can also use super glue if you prefer!

5. Valentine’s Day wreath with cupcake liners, $5

This one is a bit more time-consuming, but the result is so festive. Create a beautifully textured wreath using paper cupcake liners and a foam wreath form. A 9-inch wreath form will use 100 cupcake liners, so if you choose a larger form, be prepared with enough extra liners!
What you’ll need:
- 100 cupcake liners
- 9-inch foam wreath
- Straight pins
- Ribbon (optional)

Directions:
- Fold liners in half and then in half again.
- Use a straight pin to secure the base to the foam wreath.
- You can pin individually or in groups of 3 – 5 depending on the pattern and look desired.
- Add ribbon to hang. (optional)

6. Heart-Shaped Puzzle Wreath, $2

If your family ends up with puzzles that are missing pieces all over the house, this one’s for you! It’s a perfect upcycle project for those obnoxious puzzles missing just a few pieces. If you don’t have an old puzzle you can use, hit up the dollar store or your local thrift store.
What you’ll need:
- Cardboard box or cardboard sheet
- Puzzle
- Glue


Directions:
- Create your wreath form out of cardboard. Draw the outside heart and the inner heart that you’ll remove to create a wreath shape.
- Glue each puzzle piece down, overlapping slightly.

Tip: If you don’t like the colors of the puzzle, you can paint the pieces various shades of pink or red before gluing.

7. Vinyl Wreath, $3

We like DIY wreath ideas that use decor you may have found on sale but doesn’t quite fit your aesthetic. If you snag a really good deal on some holiday decor, use a few affordable supplies to make it your own. You can also do this with decor for other seasons, just redecorate it each season to fit!
What you’ll need:
- Any wood cutout wreath or sign (it doesn’t have to be Valentine’s Day themed!)
- Vinyl paper
- Valentine’s Day decor

Directions:
- Remove any decor from the wreath form.
- Sand lightly to ensure a smooth surface.
- Cover the front with vinyl paper.
- Decorate with your favorite Valentine’s Day items.

8. Paper Doilies Wreath, $2

Another extremely affordable option for DIY wreath ideas. This one uses just a handful of paper doilies and a wire wreath form. You can use any size that fits your space and just use the number of doilies needed to cover the form. Essentially, you’re creating two rows of hearts — more on that below!
What you’ll need:
- Heart-shaped paper doilies
- Hoop wreath form

Directions:
- Lay the wreath form on a flat surface.
- Line a row of doilies all around the form with the heart point facing inward.
- Wrap the bottom of the heart point around the hoop and glue to secure it.
- Glue another layer of heart doilies over the first to create a fun, textured look!

9. Foam Roses Welcome Wreath, $3

This one is almost too easy! Using any non-holiday wreath you already have, secure a few simple Valentine’s Day decorations to add just a touch of holiday to an already used piece.
What you’ll need:
- Foam roses
- Felt roses
- Heart stickers
This one doesn’t have any step-by-step directions. Just use any affordable Valentine’s Day decor from the dollar store to dress up a sign you already use in your home. We love the look of adding some simple foam roses to a front door welcome sign. Stickers are easy to remove, and you can also secure decor with safety pins or tape to make removal easy. We don’t recommend glue unless you want to turn the sign into a permanent Valentine’s Day decoration.

10. Beaded Faux Floral Wreath, $4

This simple wreath needs only two supplies and makes a gorgeous front door decoration. It’s yet another one where you could swap out the decor or color of flowers to use for any holiday throughout the year. We like pink, red, and white flowers for Valentine’s Day.
