Michaels stores host free craft classes for kids every weekend, but during the summer they kick things up a notch with Michaels camps. It’s called Camp Creatology, with two-hour sessions held both in-store and online Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from June 17 - July 12, 2024.
If you sign your child up to participate in-store, there's a $5 fee associated with each day of "camp." However, with that $5 fee, all supplies for the crafts are included.
You can sign up to attend virtually through live online sessions for free. But you'll need to purchase the materials in order to participate. Or, follow along on-demand. And, of course, there's always a self-guided option. We suggest using a Michaels coupon to get your supplies for cheap.
Just note that while this is called a “camp,” if you bring your child in-store, you will have to stick around while they craft. This isn’t a drop-off situation. So you’ll want to brush up on our Michaels savings hacks because, let’s face it, you’ll probably be shopping.
Let’s get into the nitty gritty of Camp Creatology. But first, text HACKS to 57299 to get smart shopping tips delivered to your phone, and download The Krazy Coupon Lady app for all the best deals at your fingertips.
When will Camp Creatology return?
Michaels camps start on June 17 and run through July 12 in 2024. This year it costs $5 each day to participate in-store, but all supplies are included.
There are four ways to attend Michaels camps.
Unlike the weekend craft classes for kids, you don't have to go in-store to attend Camp Creatology. You can also choose to follow along via Zoom, on demand through YouTube, or do a self-guided camp by downloading the free craft instruction booklets.
Here's a breakdown of your options:
In-Store Visit

10 a.m. – 12 p.m., local time
Live Online via Zoom
Monday, Wednesday, Friday — starting June 17, 2024

Head to Michaels’ YouTube page to watch recorded craft lessons on your own time.

Each craft takes anywhere from 30 - 60 minutes, and are recommended for ages 6 and up.
If you're wondering whether these Michaels camps are right for your kid, consider the age recommendation first. These activities are designed for children ages 6 and up, though if you have a particularly crafty kid younger than that, they'll probably do just fine. Each of the three crafts in a kit takes anywhere from 30 - 60 minutes. It really depends on your child's attention span for the activity.
In 2024, in-store Michaels camps cost $5 per day.
What's different this year is that each day of the Michaels camps costs $5 per child. But, all supplies are included with that $5 fee. Previously the instruction was free, but you had to either bring your own supplies or purchase a $14.99 Camp Creatology Craft kit. So, this is actually a better deal.
Pre-registration is recommended for Michaels in-store or Zoom camps, but not required.
If you choose to take your kid to Michaels camps either in-store or have them attend via Zoom, it's recommended you sign up in advance. This is another way Camp Creatology differs from Michaels free weekend craft classes, which is completely drop-in friendly.
You don't have to purchase a Camp Creatology craft kit to participate, but you will need to gather supplies.
Crafts change each day camp is in session. If you're participating in-store, there's a $5 fee with all supplies included. You don't have to purchase a kit to participate in the camp at home, but you do need to provide your own materials. Michaels offers supply lists for each craft so parents and caregivers can assemble everything needed ahead of time.

Save at least 20% on Camp Creatology craft kits with a Michaels coupon.
Michaels does put their kids crafts on sale quite often, but if it's time for camp and that kit is sitting at its regular price of $14.99, it's time to bust out a coupon.
You can always find at least a 20% off coupon at the retailer, but if you can score an elusive Michaels 40% off coupon, obviously that is preferred. Here's how the cost on each craft kit would break down if you use one of the typical Michaels coupons:
20% off coupon: $11.99 — save $3
30% off coupon: $10.49 — save $4.50
40% off coupon: $8.99 — save $6
Stack a coupon with a Michaels Rewards voucher to save more.
If you've accumulated one of those coveted $5 Michaels Rewards vouchers, feel free to use it alongside a coupon. While you can't stack coupons at Michaels, you can use both a coupon and a Rewards voucher on a single item.
Is Creatology a Michaels brand?
Yep, Creatology is Michaels' house brand for kids crafts. Creatology crafts run anywhere from $1.99 to $24.99.
You have 60 days to return an unopened craft kit to Michaels from the date of purchase.
The Michaels return policy allows you to return any unopened merchandise for 60 days from the purchase date. So, if you buy a kit and your kid ends up not attending camp, you can always return it for a full refund. It just has to be done within that 60 day window and, again, unopened.
