There aren’t tables of free samples at Target like you would find at Costco, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t freebies for the taking. You can still take advantage of Target free shipping, buy two get one free, and free gift cards.

Here’s all the best free things to get at Target.

Download the KCL app so you never miss a Target deal.

1. Get a free Target gift card when you buy certain products.

Target offers gift card deals every Sunday, usually worth a $5 or $10 Target card when you buy a set number of a certain product. Or sometimes, you can get a major deal, like a $350 gift card when you buy a new iPhone.

Make sure you keep an eye on all the Target deals so you don’t miss out on these savings.

2. Get free 2-day shipping on most items with Target RedCard.

Target RedCard will get you free standard shipping on most items and free two-day shipping on eligible items at Target.com. Orders over $35 ship for free to everyone. Otherwise, shipping is about $5.99.

3. Take an extra 5% off with the Target Circle birthday gift.

If you’re signed up for Target Circle, you’ll get a 5% off Circle deal on your birthday, which can be stacked with the RedCard 5% off. You have 30 days to use the deal before it expires.

4. Find deals like “Buy 2 Get 1 free” that come with a free add-on item.

Target runs sales like “Buy 2 Dove hair care items, get a free Dove Dry Shampoo.” Here’s a B2G1 free deal we recently published on DVDs:

Buy 1 Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory DVD (reg. $5) $4, sale price

Buy 1 The Wizard of Oz DVD (reg. $8.99) $4, sale price

Buy 1 Paddington 2 DVD (reg. $7.50) $4, sale price

Buy 2 get one free

Use RedCard for 5% off

Use RedCard for free shipping or free shipping on orders of $35+

Or free store pickup

Final price: $2.30, when you buy 3

5. Trade in electronics for Target gift cards.

With the Target Trade-In Program, you can grab free gift cards for trading in your old electronics that are gathering dust. Here’s what you’re able to trade in:

  • Video games/consoles
  • Smartphones
  • Tablets
  • Wearables
  • Voice speakers

Use the Target Trade-In website to calculate how much you’ll get back. Last time I checked, you could get over $150 for an old iPhone X.

Don’t expect major cash back on everything, but it’s better than leaving your old electronics in the attic or throwing them out.

6. Stack coupons on top of clearance items to get things for free.

One of the easiest ways to find freebies (or even moneymakers) at Target is by stacking coupons on clearance items. We notify you of freebies in the KCL app if you favorite Target. Here’s a recent one:

Buy 1 Covergirl Eye Enhancers 3-Kit Eyeshadow (reg. $4.99) $2.48, clearance price

Use $3/1 – Covergirl Eye, Target Circle Single-Use Manufacturer Coupon

Final Price: Free

Keep an eye on all the Target coupons and deals page so you don’t miss an opportunity for a freebie!

7. Receive a free welcome kit with coupons and samples when you sign up for Target baby registry.

Looking for a good parenting freebie? When you create a Target baby registry and add one item to your list, you will receive a box of samples and coupons worth over $120! (Between you and me, that number’s a pretty big stretch, but free is free.)

Plus, you get a 15% off coupon eight weeks before your due date to use on anything leftover from your registry.

8. Create a Target wedding registry and score a 15% off coupon.

Two weeks after you create your Target wedding registry (in store or online), you’ll receive a coupon worth 15% off a single purchase in store at Target and another at Target.com. The coupon can only be used on items in your registry, but you can still add stuff to your registry even after the big day.

You can’t use the coupon on everything though. Here’s some things that are excluded:

  • PlayStation/Xbox consoles and accessories
  • Fitbit
  • Samsung TVs
  • Facebook Oculus and Portal
  • Sony electronics
  • Alcohol
  • Nintendo consoles and games
  • Target gift cards and prepaid cards

9. Some Super Targets allow a free piece of produce for your little one while you shop.

There is no set policy for this, so it differs by location. You can ask to speak to the leader on duty to deny or confirm whether your store allows it.

10. Get free kids toys when you participate in special store events.

Target holds toy events that your kiddos can enjoy for free.

During The Lego Movie 2 event, kids built a toy ship, played games, and got to keep a free vest. Look for toy events in the Target weekly ad, and expect to see them pop up several times a year, depending on toy releases, movie partnerships, and holiday promotions.

These events have been halted due to the pandemic, but don’t count out a comeback in the future.
