What is FSA and HSA?
Even if you have one or the other — FSA or HSA — you may not know exactly what you're signed on for. We're going to break them down simply.
FSA (Flexible Spending Account): If you're enrolled in an employer-based health plan, you can open an FSA to which you contribute money that can later be used to pay eligible out-of-pocket healthcare costs, like over-the-counter medications and more. This money comes straight from your paycheck pre-tax, saving you a bit of money.
HSA (Health Savings Account): Super similar to an FSA, you can set up an HSA even without an employer-based health plan. However you will have to be enrolled in some type of HSA-eligible health plan independently. You can find an HSA through a bank, credit union, or similar financial institution.
