Because of all the Amazon Prime Day buzz, tons of stores started dropping their own mid-summer deals to compete with the retail giant. Belk was actually an early adopter, starting their Black Friday in July sale back in 2016 (we love a rebel).
While the July discounts are similar to the November Black Friday deals, the main difference is seasonality. You won’t find summer dresses, sandals, and swimsuits in November. And you won’t find Christmas decor, boots, and outwear in July. So it takes a little strategizing to know what to buy and when.

Belk Black Friday in July: Not-to-Miss Deals

Belk Black Friday in July is a limited-time sale that started on July 5, 2023.
Belk may have started their Black Friday in July sale because of Amazon, but we aren’t complaining. Some deals in July are even better than they are in November, though the deals tend to differ by seasonality.
Belk Black Friday in July happens close to Amazon Prime Day, it but usually starts a week or so before. For example in 2023 it kicked off on July 5, whereas Amazon Prime Day won’t arrive until July 11. You’ll find discounts on clothing, luggage, bedding, cookware, small appliances, and more online.
You can expect the Black Friday in July sale to start the first week of the month.
While Prime Day doesn’t usually start until mid-July, Belk drops their Black Friday in July sale early. This year it started on July 5, but in 2022 it kicked off on July 6. Whereas last year deals ran for six days and ended on July 11, this year Belk’s sale will run from July 5 – 9.
The main difference between Belk Black Friday in July and their regular Black Friday sale is seasonality, plus this year the sale in July is only online.
Honestly, Belk Black Friday in July is a lot like their Black Friday sale in November. There are a few minor differences, like the fact that the November sale is a few days longer, and more categories get price drops. Also, in a change from previous years, Belk Black Friday in July appears to be an online-only event. However as far as deals go, the discounts are essentially the same on cookware, small appliances, luggage, fine jewelry, and other top categories.
The biggest difference is that you’ll find discounts on summer items in July and winter items in November.
For example, Belk had a bunch of deals on beach towels, swimsuits, dresses, shorts, and sandals in their July sale. But in November, those discounts went to holiday decor, boots, flannels, outerwear, and pajamas for the family.

The biggest wins from the Black Friday in July sale are summer fashion and accessories! Belk had great deals like:
- 50% off select women’s swimwear
- 40% off women’s fashion
- Up to 65% off kids’ apparel
- Shoes and sandals from $7.50
- Beach towels Buy 1, Get 2 Free
Bedding and sheets were also cheaper during Belk’s July sale. We found queen-size sheet sets starting at $17.99. Comforters, duvets, and blankets started at $19.99 in July, while November prices started at $34.99.

There were a few main deals we saw in November that weren’t available in July. Those were:
- 70% off select toys
- 65% off Christmas decor
- 60% off select designer handbags
- Beauty and Fragrances from $12.99
Aside from that, Belk discounted a dozen more niche and brand-specific categories in November. All the summer deals from July got replaced with winter deals in November, making it a great time to stock up on holiday decor, boots, coats, sweaters, and denim. Some of the best deals we saw last November were women’s boots from $19.99, men’s flannels from $11.99, and up to 70% off sleepwear for the family.
