Holland America Line is offering substantial discounts on cruises from Alaska to the Caribbean to Europe for travel in 2012. In addition to the savings, the Sail and Save promotion includes discounts on airfares, third and fourth person rates (in the same stateroom) and free upgrades. There is no deadline for booking, but in the past, cabins featured in this sale go quickly. Below are just a few examples of the prices available:
- Six-day Western Caribbean (sails from Fort Lauderdale and visits Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Grand Cayman and a private island in the Bahamas) — from $449 per person (verandah cabins from $549)
- Seven-Day Eastern Caribbean (sails from Fort Lauderdale and visits the Turks and Caicos; San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands and a private island in the Bahamas) — from $549 per person
- Seven-day Alaska (sails from Vancouver to Seward, Alaska and calls at Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway) — from $599 per person
- Seven-day Mediterranean (sails from Rome and visits Barcelona, Spain; Monte Carlo; Portofino and Trapini, Italy; and Tunis, Tunisia) — from $899 per person
All of these rates are based on two persons sharing a stateroom. Port taxes, government fees and airfare are additional. For more information and to take advantage of this deal, visit the Sail and Save page at Holland America.com.
About Holland America Line
I’ve sailed with Holland America Line several times and like their smaller-scale ships. (A typical ship holds 2200-2500 passengers, rather than 6000+ passengers.) The line is noted for their service and extensive on-board art collection. They can also dock at ports that are too shallow for the new mega-ships. On-board features include a small, reservation-only dining room that specializes in Pacific Northwest cuisine (in addition to the main dining room and the Lido deck buffet) and a culinary theater (on selected ships), where you can learn about food and wine and even take a cooking class at sea.
