One of our go-to methods for racking up CVS Rewards used to be the CVS Beauty Club. Sadly, as of January 2023, this cherished loyalty program was discontinued. But don't worry, the savings don't have to stop there. Although we might miss out on some of the CVS freebies the club used to offer, there are still perks up for grabs. If you're on the hunt for a CVS program with benefits, give the CVS ExtraCare Plus program a look (you’ll get $10 in ExtraBucks!).
With the CVS Beauty Club no longer in the picture, we've dug into what this means for your budget and how you can keep saving on beauty products.
Text CVS to 57299 and be the first to know about the best CVS deals each day.
1. Join CVS ExtraCare to continue getting CVS Beauty Club-style deals.
Although there isn’t an actual CVS Beauty Club anymore, that doesn’t mean you can’t still save on beauty goodies. CVS Beauty Club is now just part of your ExtraCare membership. Since the CVS ExtraCare membership tailors coupons to your shopping, it’ll learn that you love beauty products. Then the magic coupon kiosk at CVS will spit you out awesome beauty coupons!
2. Shop the Epic Beauty Sale in April and August for savings on beauty products.
Twice a year, CVS hosts their Epic Beauty Sale, offering significant discounts and ExtraBucks Rewards on a variety of beauty products. The sale typically lasts three to four weeks, giving you plenty of time to grab deals on makeup, skincare, haircare, bath and body, oral care, and beauty tools and accessories. In addition to numerous discounts and BOGO deals, you can earn up to $100 in ExtraBucks each week by using your ExtraCare card.
A standout deal from the April 2024 sale was getting $10 in ExtraBucks when you spent $20 on Neutrogena products. Many items were also on sale with a buy one, get one 40% off deal.
Mark your calendars: Based on the prior sale pattern, we predict the next Epic Beauty Sale will start around Aug. 25, 2024. The August 2023 sale took place from Aug. 27 to Sept. 16, while the April 2024 sale occurred from March 31 to April 27.
3. Combine ExtraBucks Rewards with coupons and sales to save more on beauty products.
It wouldn’t be a Krazy Coupon Lady deal if we weren’t using coupons! Stacking coupons at CVS is the key to becoming an expert CVS couponer. Even though the Epic Beauty sale only happens twice a year, you can grab beauty deals each week just by stacking coupons.
Plus, you can get $3 in ExtraBucks on your birthday. Once you set up your CVS account, make sure you add in your birthday. You’ll receive $3 in ExtraBucks as a special treat.
4. Use all your CVS ExtraBucks before they expire (within 30 days).
You have about a month to use your rewards, and most CVS locations won’t take expired coupons. You'll need to pay attention to the dates printed on ExtraBucks or listed in the CVS app. Some stores will take them if they are just a day or two expired, but that’s not official policy. Be extra nice to the cashier if you’re trying to use your ExtraBucks a day late.
5. Treat yourself with the ExtraBucks and free gifts — they can only be used with the same account they were earned on.
As nice as it seems, you can’t hand ExtraBucks or your free gift offer over to a friend to use unless they are using your rewards account attached to your phone number or CVS ExtraCare card.
6. Only hit 98% of the threshold to earn ExtraBucks.
The CVS 98% rule lets you spend 98 percent of the required amount and still earn ExtraBucks.
So if you see an offer that says, “Get $5 in ExtraBucks when you spend $20,” you only have to spend $19.60, or 98% of $20, to earn the $5 reward.
7. Save on beauty products with manufacturer coupons.
Between the sales and ExtraBucks offers — you can still totally save on beauty products at CVS. But don't forget to look for manufacturer makeup coupons before you shop.
