8 Ways to Get Cheap Home Internet
If you’re feeling a little isolated from the coronavirus-driven social distancing, there’s a Netflix tool that will help bring back the movie night.
Some kind developers out there have rolled out Netflix Party, a Google Chrome web browser extension that allows people to chat while watching movies together, synced, at a distance. It first rolled out in late 2018, but now, as people are quarantined at home, half a million people have started using it.
With 167 million Netflix subscribers out there, chances are you’ll be able to put together a good group of buddies.
Grab your computer and your popcorn. Here’s what you do:
1. Download and install the Netflix Party extension.
First, make sure you have the Google Chrome web browser. Then head over to netflixparty.com and download the Chrome extension (make sure you hit that “add to Chrome” button).
2. Pick your show on Netflix.
Log in to your Netflix.com account and choose the show you want to watch.
3. Rally your friends by clicking the Netflix Party button.
To the right of your browser’s web address bar is the Netflix Party button, which looks like “NP.” Click it, and then copy the URL of your party. Send it to your friends and watch them start showing up. Make sure “show chat” is selected so you can write to each other during the show.
You can also join somebody else’s Netflix Party by clicking their URL and then hitting that NP button.
4. Customize your party.
