Pokemon Squishmallows are the newest type of rare Squishmallows to hit the market. And if you’re tryin’ to catch them all — we got you! In early 2023 there will be four waves of Pokemon Squishmallows. The trick will be knowing when the Pokemon Squishmallows restocks happen and which stores will have what — and when.

Right now we’re keeping an eye out for any authorized retailers online. Pokemon Squishmallows first hit the shelves in February 2023 at Walmart and Target. But other online retailers have been popping up in the lead-up to their official release. Unfortunately, Pikachu and Gengar are already going for big bucks on resale sites like eBay and Mercari. But don’t fall for those money traps unless you REALLY need them.

In 2023 there will be four waves of Pokemon Squishmallows that come out.

First Wave: Pikachu & Gengar

The first wave included Pikachu and Gengar — which have already hit the shelves at Walmart and Target. They will be available in sizes as small as 10 inches and as large as 20 inches, and retail prices start at $19.99.

Second Wave: Togepi & Snorlax

The second wave of Pokemon Squishmallows includes Togepi and Snorlax, which arrived in stores the first weekend of April. These two are hot! Amazon and other retailers already show them out of stock online. We suggest you check for in-store availability at your local Target or Walmart. The most recent releases are 14 inches tall.

Third Wave: Pipulp & Winking Pikachu

The third wave will consist of Pipulp and a winking version of Pikachu. We still don’t know when the third wave (also known as Gen IV) will be released officially. But hey, we’ll definitely keep an eye out for any news on when we can finally get our hands on them. Judging from previous releases, you can probably expect to find them at places like Walmart, Amazon, and even on the Pokémon Center online store itself. So, keep your eyes peeled and get ready to snag ’em from your favorite retailers!

Fourth Waves: Teddiursa & Clefiary

The fourth wave will include Teddiursa and Clefiary. There isn’t a release date for wave four just yet.

Which stores will carry Pokemon Squishmallows?

Exclusive Pokemon Squishmallows were briefly available online at PokemonCenter.com, but they sold out fast. Through 2023, you can find Pikachu and Gengar available at Claire’s, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, and Walmart. We’ve even spotted some at Hy-Vee. The sizes will be exclusive for each store.

If you’re purchasing from the Pokemon Center, the Squishmallow will have a special patch on its back that features a Poke Ball.

Target released them in stores on Jan. 29 (for $24.99 & $44.99), but they’re hard to find.

Preorders for Gengar and Pikachu were gone in an instant when Target.com first offered them back in November 2022. While you can’t order them online, you can use the Target landing page to see which stores have them in stock.

Target is carrying the 20-inch version with a price tag of $44.99 — which is more than the standard 20-inch Squishmallow (regularly $34 and up). In February 2023 Target quietly released a 14″ Pikachu for as low as $23.74 if you used your Target RedCard.

GameStop carried the 10-inch and 14-inch Pokemon Squishmallows when they were in stock. On the GameStop website, said the next release date was May 12, 2023. But the restock was so quick!

On Jan. 11, 2023, GameStop.com had the 10-inch and 14-inch Pikachu Squishmallow and the 10-inch and 14-inch Gengar Squishmallow. They were only available for a short time before they sold out completely.

Walmart officially released them in stores on Feb. 1 … after recalling them from shelves earlier this year ($14.97).

Walmart officially released the 12-inch Pokemon Squishmallows on Feb. 1, 2023, for $14.97.

At first, select Walmart stores put them on the shelves early in 2023, but when customers tried purchasing the Squishmallows, they were denied the sale due to a “recall.” But this wasn’t a recall for any safety issues — it was because Walmart employees put them on the shelves too early. Sources say they were $14.98 each for the 12-inch size.
