Pokemon Squishmallows are the newest type of rare Squishmallows to hit the market. And if you’re tryin’ to catch them all — we got you! In early 2023, we can expect to add Pikachu and Gengar to our Squishmallow collection. The trick will be knowing when the Pokemon Squishmallows restocks happen and which stores will have what — and when.

Right now, we’re keeping an eye out for any authorized retailers online. Pokemon Squishmallows aren’t expected to hit the shelves until February 2023, but when they do — you’ll be the first to know! Online retailers have been popping up in the lead up to their official release, and unfortunately, Pikachu and Gengar are already going for big bucks on resale sites like eBay and Mercari. Don’t fall for those money traps unless you REALLY need them.

What Pokemon Squishmallows are in the 2023 release?

Piles of Gengar and Pikachu Squishmallows ne

Pikachu and Gengar Squishmallows will be released in 2023. They will be available in sizes as small as 10 inches and as big as 20 inches. Retail prices start at $19.99.

Toy manufacturer Jazwares and The Pokemon Company intend to make more Pokemon Squishmallow characters beyond just Pikachu and Gengar, but so far they haven’t released details about additional ones just yet. I would imagine we would get the original classics like Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. And we can’t forget about Eevee, Snorlax, and Ditto!

Which stores will carry Pokemon Squishmallows?

Exclusive Pokemon Squishmallows were available at PokemonCenter.com, but they sold out fast. Through 2023, we can expect to find Pikachu and Gengar sold at GameStop, Target, and Walmart. The sizes will be exclusive for each store.

When do Pokemon Squishmallows come out?

The release dates for Pokemon Squishmallows depend on which store you’re shopping at. Here’s what to expect:

They’re out of stock at PokemonCenter ($29.99).

Pokemon Squishmallows were first released in November 2022 exclusively on PokemonCenter.com. But they immediately sold out! The site only sells the 12-inch version, and they also have an embroidered Pokemon Center Poke Ball logo on the back.

Target released on Jan. 29 in stores ($44.99).

Preorders for Gengar and Pikachu were gone in an instant when Target.com first offered them back in November 2022. While we can’t order online, you can use the Target landing page to see what stores have them in stock. Target is carrying the 20-inch version with a price tag of $44.99 — which is more than a standard 20-inch Squishmallow (regularly $34 and up).

GameStop will release more Pokemon Squishmallows on May 12, 2023 ($19.99).

GameStop carries the 10-inch and 14-inch Pokemon Squishmallows. On the GameStop website, they say the next release date will be May 12, 2023.

On Jan. 11, 2023, GameStop.com had the 10-inch and 14-inch Pikachu Squishmallow and the 10-inch and 14-inch Gengar Squishmallow. They were only available for a short time before they sold out completely.

Walmart will have them in February 2023 (after recalling them from shelves earlier this year).

Walmart will have Pokemon Squishmallows in the 12-inch size available in February 2023. At first, select Walmart stores put them on the shelves early in 2023, but when customers tried purchasing the Squishmallows, they were denied the sale due to a “recall.” But this wasn’t a recall for any safety issues — it was because Walmart employees put them on the shelves too early. Sources say they were $14.98 each for the 12-inch size.

Since they’ve already been put on the shelves early once, I would keep an eye out at your local Walmart any time you’re there just in case!
