First it was AirTran. Then Southwest Airlines got into the game. Now American Airlines and Delta Airlines are offering extremely low fares if you purchase your tickets by 11:59 PM, Eastern tonight, April 5. Seats are limited, but you can travel between April 17 and May 30, 2012 for these fares (with the exclusion of May 29.) With AirTran, you must travel on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  More than 3200 city pairs are involved in this fare, and prices start at $49 each way. Below are just a few of the ones I found available this morning:

  • Detroit to Chicago – $69
  • Chicago to St. Louis – $69
  • Boston to Miami – $131
  • Dallas to Oklahoma City – $50
  • Denver to Austin – $82

Taxes, airport fees, and baggage fees are additional. Additional restrictions apply depending on the dates you travel. Be sure to read the fine print before purchasing any tickets.

To check prices and/or take advantage of this sale, visit the AirTran Web site, the Southwest Airlines Web site, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, your favorite online booking site (such as Orbitz or Expedia), or your local travel agent.
