A number of US airlines offer last-minute airfare specials beginning on Tuesdays for travel on the upcoming weekend. Most fares are non-refundable and must be purchased immediately, but these specials often represent significant savings even over the advance purchase fares. Below is a recap of this week's offerings.
United/Continental Airlines – Continental Airlines offers dozens of Internet specials this week, mostly to or from their hubs in Houston, Newark, Chicago, Cleveland and Denver. These fares must be purchased by 11:59 PM, Central on Friday, March 23 and apply to departures after 7 PM on March 23 or anytime March 24 with returns on Monday, March 26 or Tuesday, March 27. Taxes and airport fees are additional. A sampling of this week's fares include:
- Los Angeles to Aspen – $221
- Chicago to Huntsville – $221
- Cleveland to Atlanta – $221
- Cleveland to New York/Newark or LaGuardia – $161
- Newark to Jacksonville – $271
- New Orleans to San Francisco – $321
US Airways – US Airways also offers weekly Internet specials. Their E-saver fares for this week must be purchased by 11:59 PM, Eastern on March 24 for travel departing March 24 and returning March 27. The best fares I found include: (roundtrip without taxes and fees) Not a great selection this week.
- Charlotte to Huntsville – $210
- Knoxville to Washington, DC – $230
Delta Airlines Web Deals – Delta, like the others, offers airfares between special cities (often including their hub, Atlanta) for travel on the weekend. Tickets for these specials must be purchased by 11:59 PM on Saturday, March 24 and are non-refundable, once purchased. You must depart on Saturday, March 24 and return on Monday, March 26 or Tuesday, March 27. Below is just a sampling of this week’s specials. The fares listed are roundtrip and do not include taxes or airport fees, if applicable.
- Atlanta to Huntsville – $140
- Charlotte to Minneapolis – $220

Keep in mind that there are a limited number of seats for these Internet deals and they may sell out at any time. Be sure to read the fine print before purchasing your tickets, but if you see something that interests you, it's a good idea to buy your tickets immediately to avoid being disappointed.
