Amazon's July Prime Day sale is over. But Amazon usually throws a second Prime-members-only sale in October (we predict Oct. 8). As you plan for the next Prime Day, check out what our KCL staff shopped for during the most recent one.
We asked our most skilled and seasoned Amazon bargain hunters to share the products they were adding to their carts, the prices that they said would make them jump on a deal, and their tested and their proven Prime Day shopping tips.

The Amazon Prime Day Deals We Shopped in July
Amazon Prime Day can be a chaotic sale to shop, with Lightning Deals striking and prices falling around the clock. And, yes, it truly is a big deal – shoppers shelled out almost $13 billion on Prime Day last year, putting it on par with the likes of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. These are the deals our team said they'd be hunting for amid the chaos during Prime Day in July:
Amy just moved, so she’s looking for home deals (rugs, furniture, household essentials, vacuums, and steam mops) this Prime Day.
“If there’s a deal on a brand name vacuum for under $100, I’d jump on it,” she says.
In addition to shopping for herself, she’s shopping for her 3-year-old niece (“There’s always amazing toy deals during Prime Day”). Her Prime Day tip? “I add the products I want to my cart and save them for later, so I can find them quickly and hop on the deal.”
Amy’s Prime Day Picks:
Price she wants: $51
Price she wants: $80
Price she wants: $130
Rachel is taking a practical approach to Prime Day. “I will jump on essentials — the things I need to buy anyways,” she says. In particular, she’s looking at dog food (Blue Buffalo), razors (Bic), batteries (Energizer), and other household and personal care essentials.
She’s also got a 1-year-old, meaning she’s on the lookout for toys, birthday presents, and clothes. To stay organized, she creates wishlists for herself, her child, and her husband. “Then I use Amazon’s tools to watch the deal or price trackers like Keepa so I’m notified of any price drops,” she says.
Rachel’s Prime Day Picks:
Price she wants: Around $6 (what we saw last Prime Day)
Premier Protein Shake Variety Pack
Price she wants: $12.99
Price she wants: Under $6
Kathryn, a mom of two, is planning to start her Christmas and birthday gift stockpile this Prime Day. She’s looking for toys for her kids, gadgets for her dad, and home items for her mom.
On her own shopping list? A robot vacuum under $100 or a Tineco wet-dry vacuum under $200, depending on model and features. “I’ve also been curious about the Tymo hair straightening brush,” she says. “I’ve seen it before for $39 but I didn’t grab it. Now I’m holding out for that price.”
To prep, Kathryn is readying her wishlists, but she’s open to where Prime Day leads her. “Amazon has endless deals, and sometimes you get pleasantly surprised by the deals that pop up,” she says.
Kathryn’s Prime Day Picks:
Price she wants: Under $30 depending on the brand name and size.
Price she wants: Under $25
Tymo Ring Hair Straightener Brush
Price she wants: $39
Chanel’s Prime Day 2024 shopping list encompasses everything from tech to health items (including vitamins, Liquid IV products, and protein shakes). “This Prime Day, I have my eye on a Kindle Paperwhite,” she says. “I’d automatically jump on a deal if there’s one for $100.”
To prep for Prime Day, Chanel says she’s adding items to her Amazon Wish List and the Save for Later section of her Amazon cart so that she doesn’t miss a price drop.
Chanel’s Prime Day Picks:
Price she wants: $24
Price she wants: $35
Price she wants: $18
Katie is shopping mostly for herself, but also scouting gifts for August birthdays. She’s been at The Krazy Coupon Lady for five years, and she's excited to be “completely submerged in the Prime Day madness."
Her Prime Day wish? “I’m hoping for a great price on the Kindle Paperwhite, but if I don’t see it drop as low as I want, I’ll gladly hop on a deal for a regular Kindle instead,” she says.
Katie’s Prime Day Picks:
Olaplex Blonde Enhancer Conditioner
Price she wants: $21.38
Price she wants: $399
Oral-B Genius X Limited Toothbrush
Price she wants: $99.99
Natalie is pumped for Prime Day 2024 because last year’s Prime Day was a big one.
“Last year’s Prime Day had one of the biggest order counts the sale has seen yet,” she says. “I think that means this year they’ll amp up sales, promotions, and other offers to draw in more customers, which is great news for shoppers.”
On the top of her shopping list? A white noise machine. But while those frequently go on sale on Prime Day, “they sell out just as fast, so fingers crossed I grab one before they’re gone,” she says.
Natalie’s Prime Day Picks:
Price she wants: $79
Tymo Ring Hair Straightener Brush
Price she wants: $40
Price she wants: $10
Cayla is hunting for electronics deals this Prime Day. “This is the perfect time to find the gadgets I’ve been eyeballing for some time and save while doing it,” she says.
She’s shopping for herself and loved ones this year. “I’m excited for the hustle and bustle of the deals during the 2-day event,” she says. And she’s fully embracing the chaos of the event: “No prep. I just dive in!”
Cayla’s Prime Day Picks:
Price she wants: $139.99
