Located mostly on the East Coast, BJ’s Wholesale Club is a members-only grocery store that offers regular deals on groceries and bulk items. They also have members-only perks like their BJ’s tire and optical services. And occasionally, you can get their basic Club Card membership — regularly $60 — for just $20 (or even $15!) by taking advantage of membership deals.
BJ’s does offer a 24-hour One-Day Pass, but to save more on groceries, appliances, furniture, and seasonal items at BJ’s, you’ll want to sign up for their annual membership. Having the membership is how you can take advantage of the BJ's coupon policy too.

At full price, a BJ's membership costs either $60 or $120 per year.
There are two levels of BJ's membership, and they both increased in price on Jan. 1, 2025. Previously, the basic level cost $55 per year and the upgraded level cost $110 per year.
The basic level (The Club Card membership) is now $60 per year and gives you bulk prices on groceries and home goods; the ability to use (and stack) manufacturer coupons along with in-house coupons; free curbside pickup on orders of $50 or more; access to BJ’s Gas, BJ’s Tire Center, and BJ’s Travel; and access to BJ’s Optical, without the nonmember surcharge.
If you want additional perks, you'll want to upgrade to The Club+ Card membership for $120 per year. This level gives you all the perks mentioned above, plus extras like free curbside pickup with no minimums, 2% back in rewards, and $0.05 off per gallon at BJ's Gas, just to name a few.
But you can get a $20 BJ's membership deal pretty regularly if you've never joined before.
On a frequent basis, BJ’s offers membership discounts that drop the price for a Club Card membership much lower than regular price, to around $20 - $30 for new members.
You'll just need to sign up on their website through a special link and agree to enroll in their auto-renewal program.
Groupon routinely offers BJ's membership deals for as low as $15.
If you don’t see the $20 membership offer through BJ’s, you should also check for BJ’s discounts on Groupon throughout the year.
For example, in January 2025, there's a current Groupon offer where you can join BJ's for $15, which is 75% off the regular price. We last saw this deal in December 2024, and it stuck around for about a month before it expired.
We've also seen Groupon deals in the past that would let you join for as low as $20, then earn a $20 BJ's Reward if you spent $60 or more within your first 60 days. That made the membership essentially free for your first year.
Teachers, military personnel, and first responders can always get a membership for $25 (plus a $10 bonus reward).
If there aren’t any current offers available, you can still save on a BJ’s membership by claiming their BJ's teacher deal, BJ's military deal, or BJ's first responders deal. BJ’s offers all military personnel and educators (this includes school administrators, employees, and professors) a membership for $25, along with a $10 welcome bonus award (for new members) loaded onto their account. You'll just need to verify your status through ID.me.
This $25 membership deal is available 365 days per year, so you don’t have to wait for a promotional event to take advantage of it.

Try asking for the $25 membership deal when it's time to renew.
Many BJ’s members have had success with getting a discount on their BJ’s membership just by asking customer service for one (either at the warehouse or over the phone). You may have the best chance of getting a discount on your renewal rate if you’re within the 30-day window before or after your membership expires, or if you agree to automatic renewal.
To try this method, just ask, “is there a promotion to renew my card?” and see what they can offer you.
Or skip the annual BJ's membership entirely (but know that you'll pay a little bit more).
You can take advantage of some BJ’s products and services even without a membership. The catch? You’ll end up paying more. Here’s a breakdown of everything you can — and can’t — do without a membership to BJ’s.
What you can do without a BJ's membership:
Shop online (shipping only) or in warehouse with a One-Day Pass. However, just know that BJ's will charge you an additional 15% surcharge on your purchase.
Visit their optical center. By law, they can't turn away prescriptions. So you can shop at BJ’s Optical without a membership and with no surcharge.
Use Instacart to buy BJ’s bulk products. But that also means you won’t get the BJ’s membership discount on any products, just the convenience of buying in bulk and having it delivered to your door.
What you won't be able to do without a membership:
Purchase fuel at BJ's Gas.
Buy products or services from BJ's Tires.
Take advantage of BJ's Travel deals.
Claim wireless discounts.
Claim home improvement savings.
KCL TIP: If you purchase a BJ's membership within seven days of using your One-Day Pass, they'll apply the 15% surcharge you paid toward your membership fee.
