When Dick’s Sporting Goods reopened after a coronavirus shutdown, we saw an uncharacteristically high number of items on clearance.
These clearance sales created a big stir among shoppers — and now Dick’s wants to keep the deep-discount party going permanently.
The company has announced that there will be two new “concept stores” focused on clearance: OVERTIME by Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Dick’s Sporting Goods Warehouse.
Get 75% off Nike, Adidas, Under Armour & more at OVERTIME stores.
Last week, Dick’s converted three of their existing stores into the first OVERTIME locations in Plainville, CT; Hagerstown, MD; and Philadelphia, PA — bringing deeply discounted merchandise from many of the familiar brands carried at Dick’s stores.
Like Ross, TJMaxx, and Nordstrom Rack, OVERTIME stores will have a steady markdown schedule to keep inventory fresh.
Dick’s Warehouse Sales are discounting footwear & apparel up to 90% off at empty storefronts.
Unlike the new permanent OVERTIME stores, Dick’s has introduced a “pop-up-style” experience with their new Warehouse Sales. These stores will be temporary, similar to the Spirit Halloween store model, appearing in empty storefronts like old Toys ‘R’ Us, Babies ‘R’ Us, and Gordmans.
Earlier this month, Dick’s opened five Warehouse Sale locations that will be operating over the next six months: Avon, IN; St. Peters, MO; North Olmstead, OH; South Hills, PA; and Brookfield, WI.
Warehouse stores are open 10 AM to 7 PM every day.

No Warehouse or OVERTIME nearby? Check the clearance rack.
We found savings of up to 75% off at clearance racks in Dick’s stores. There’s a pretty good selection online, too, but nothing beats the in-store selection (even if employees say they’re the same).
Chances are, Dick’s is testing these stores for a bigger rollout.
The company sees the success discount department stores like Ross, TJMaxx, Nordstrom Rack, and others are having, and rather than punt their unsold merch to those stores, they’re taking things in-house.
Look for Dick’s to convert more stores into OVERTIME locations, and for more empty storefronts to become Warehouse Sales.
